I didn’t get to run this morning (or this weekend for that matter) so I waited until after work today. A cool, steady rain was falling and I chose to run the hilly route outside my neighborhood. This run was one of the more enjoyable runs I’ve had in a long time. I slowed down a little and entertained myself by splashing through the puddles and dodging the mudslides. Just like when I was a kid. When I finished, I still had plenty left in the tank. I think that’s a good sign given that I’m running a half marathon on Sunday.
Speaking of childlike behavior, I embraced my inner big kid this weekend in Branson with the family. Silver Dollar City has taken the bar up several notches on thrill rides since I was last there. We double rode most of the roller coasters and still had time to take in plenty of good food and a bit of the crafts. Saturday night we hit a local sports bar to catch up on the Razorback game. Even though the game was terrible (unless you’re an Alabama fan), we had excellent family time. Sunday we hit the go kart track and had a blast. It was a perfect weekend.
This should be a taper week, but I’m going to wing it. I want to make sure I’m properly conditioned for Sunday. I think I hear a piece of Silver Dollar City saltwater taffy calling me.
